Athletes/Celebrities and DUIs

A lot of them smoke pot to relieve stress. I've covered a few athletes who seemed to be genuinely good people who smoked pot for that reason. Once had a former fairly promiment college basketball player tell me that smoking pot in black culture was "just like one of you white boys having a beer after a long day." Again ... his words, not mine.

Now, the drunk-driving thing, that's just fucking stupid, wreckless and a lot of other bad words I could use. Teams like the 49ers in football and I'm sure some others have DDs on-call 24/7, and I don't see why college teams can't do what most fraternities do — have some freshmen do beeper duty.
