Alex Rodriguez, who grew up a Mets fan and has spoken in the past about idolizing the 1986 World Series team, has emerged as a "potential suitor" to buy the team, reports Thornton McEnery of the New York Post.

According to McEnery, Rodriguez is "kicking the tires" about the idea of buying the Mets, though sources told McEnery that any bid from Rodriguez would be "a long shot" that would require Rodriguez putting together "an ownership group of even wealthier investors."

Mets COO Jeff Wilpon released a statement last week after the potential sale to Steve Cohen fell through, saying the team is "moving forward to find a new transaction."

Is it really that much worse than crap the Patriots have been caught doing? It is legal to steal signs. You just can't do it the way they did it.

The crying by Yankees fans is particularly amusing. The franchise that has maintained its built-in, market-driven advantage forever wants to whine about fairness? During the run of 17 playoff appearances and five World Series championships in 18 years, how many Yankees were busted for steroid use? I'm talking about guys with a failed test, an admission or other incontrovertible evidence? Enough for me not to take them too seriously when they whine about cheating.

Big Papi laughs in your general direction

did others players criticize PEDs nearly as much as they are criticizing this cheating?

A company that makes metal trash cans should buy TV ad space in Houston and Boston. “These cans are so good, even major leaguers use them!”

I was thinking that it’s hard to quantify the effects of stealing so why not just keep Astro’s champs but give them so sort of scarlet letter then I read Bauer’s interview with the Athletic and realize the ripple effects to other players was huge; maybe they should be stripped of all their awards and rings. Them you see how the players got signals on about 19% of pitches; which correlates pretty closely to % of breaking balls that are typically thrown. That’s a huge advantage.

Nothing more is going to be done. Manfred's made that very clear without of course saying it. They can't go much deeper because a thorough investigation would likely reveal that the number of teams illicitly using the replay video equipment was close to all 30.
