Does anyone know anything, aside from the obvious, about this paper? How many people are in the sports department? I took a look at the website and most stories had a "staff reports" byline. The only bylines that I did find were by the SE.

It's a GateHouse paper, circulation of about 15,000. They just lost the sports editor (full disclosure, he and I are friends all the way back to college) to the Division III college in town as the new SID.

Assistant SE got promoted... he's been there a while so he definitely deserves it.

Paper went down to six days a week in the past year, but it used to be six days up until the late 1980s. The Friday edition is thicker than it used to be, because it incorporated a lot of the Saturday elements.

Good place to work. Don't know about pay, but paper's serious about covering Hope and Grand Valley and definitely is prep-intensive.

Love the location, but it seemed like all (or at least the majority) was high schools and small colleges.
