Artie quits Howard Stern, (tries to) beat crap out of assistant...

I kinda feel like Doc about Stern. Yet, that was some compelling radio "drama" there. You couldn't turn away from it.

Only thing that would have made it better was if Howard would have really told Robin to STFU.

I've been listening to Howard since the early 80s. It took me a long time to warm up to Artie after Jackie left, but I eventually did. I am sad about this, because Artie makes me laugh and because it's clear he is hellbent on killing himself. Like Mizzou, I turn off the show when the porn stars are on; the interviews and the conversation amongst the cast members are the best parts to me. I missed yesterday's show, so thanks for posting the youtube clip.

    Artie looks awful....no doubt.

    But that was absolutely staged.

I do remember Imus' show before Stern gained foothold at WNBC in NY. It was absolutely nothing like the show Imus does today, which is basically a copy of what Stern started.

Imus' pre-Stern NBC show featured him spinning records and silly bits like Moby Worm dropping bombs on local high schools and Rev. Billy Sol Hargis, which could be funny at times, but it was absolutely nothing like what Howard introduced when he came to NY.

Stern's last funny bit was the Baby M song in the late 80s/early 90s. I do miss his show on Channel 9. The Tribute to Vagina was everything Uncle Floyd wanted to do but couldn't in the 70s.

It was mentioned above he's in the top three touring. Don't know where he really falls, but here's a link that mentions some others:

Granted it's not for the entire year. Foxworthy get $150k per gig, and other like Seinfeld, Cook, Cosby, etc. are still touring. If Lange is making this kind of money, I'd like to see something to confirm it.

Plus, I wouldn't characterize the merger as Sirius buying XM.

  9. I just watched this. He's HUGE. But I still thought it was really funny.

"If he doesn't die from drugs, we're going to kill him with cupcakes"
"Yeah Donnie, two seconds ago 'Come on Buddy, live it up' and then, 'Here's 14 cupcakes'"

Yeah, it would have been much better if that dumb bitch was leaving and not Artie...

I love Howard Stern. I've been listening since the early 90's. It was the best when it was Robin, Howard, Jackie, Fred and Billy West.

Whoevery said it went from being a show of equals to Howard above all was right. That's when I didn't listen as much.

Still, I enjoy Howard when he just shoots the shit or when they're doing the news. Best part of the show.

Billy West was incredible... I agree completely that when they're just talking the show it at its best...
