That was a strange ending. It also seemed like he voted for Magglio because he said he didn't think A-Rod deserved a unanimous MVP award.

Even though Law is right & he's wrong?

OTOH He didn't see Rodriguez play everyday.

He also fails to take defense into consideration. Ordonez and his 4 right field assists compared with playing third base should at least be a consideration. While the offensive stats are impressive for both players, Rodriguez cut his errors from last years 24 to 13 this season. Third base is significantly more challenging than right field both physically and mentally. At least Ordonez plays the field and doesn't park his fat ass on the bench drinking juice and watching video tape like some Boston wannabe MVP.

Gage's main beef was Law's rationale for why Gage voted for Ordonez. Was Law right about that?

Here was what Hawkins said about it in the Daily News' story: "The Yankees may very well still have made the playoffs without A-Rod, where the Tigers wouldn't have even been close to being in contention," Hawkins said. "A-Rod had a far more spectacular year with the home runs, but I felt Magglio had a more consistent year."

Terrible ending to that column. He spends the first part of the column trying to make the case that he is right (therefore most of the other voters would be wrong). Then he switches to a direct response to a critic. Then he undercuts his entire argument by saying that Rodriguez deserved more votes than Ordonez.

Hawkins writes for a JRC rag, so he's under orders to shake his pom poms for the hometown boys (basically company policy). He also only covered about 90 of the Tigers games, since they're too cheap to cover them home and on the road.
