Yeah, someone's death should be reason enough to put the "Democrat Party" bit on ice, if only for a day. It's one of the more ridiculous affectations in contemporary political rhetoric.

Any additional background on the shooter yet?

Unconfirmed reports give the guy's name as Tim Johnson, out of Searcy. About 45 miles north of Little Rock.
One thing says he is 50, another says 51. One report, as yet unconfirmed is that he recently left an alcohol treatment center.
Johnson has a sister that lives in Sheridan, and that adds to the theory that the ID is correct since the shooter was stopped there.
As yet unconfirmed is who pulled the trigger. Cops returned fire after being shot at, but it isn't clear if he caught a cop's bullet or if he pulled a trigger on himself.
He was not dead at the scene. Was taken by helicopter to a Little Rock hospital.
    He died there.
Reports coming out now, as yet unconfirmed, is that Gwatney took five shots, three to the chest, one to the head, and one either missed or grazed him.
Gwatney didn't work at the office full-time, he had only come in to sign checks and do some paperwork. So Gwatney being targeted specifically is doubtful.
    Very odd.

One final thing before this sumbitch is put to bed for the night.
Timothy Dale Johnson, 50, was the shooter.
He was fired from a Target store in Conway, about 30 minutes north of Little Rock, this morning for spray painting graffiti — "Target sucks" — at the store. The Conway police were called and did a report because of Johnson's erratic behavior and because the other employees were fearful for their lives.
They were afraid he was going to shoot somebody.
Dude appears to have went home to Searcy, 40 minutes east, got his guns — a revolver, a rifle and a semi-automatic weapon — then drove to Little Rock and went hunting.
The revolver was used to kill Gwatney. The rifle and semi-auto were used in the shootout with the cops. He may have also grabbed extra ammo while he was at home.

Also, there was no connection the the auto dealerships Gwatney owned, as reported earlier erroneously. Or at least that anybody knows for certain.

The guy was driving a Chevy truck. Maybe he bought it there and was displeased with the warranty.

Sorry but I'm having a tough day on several levels (health, job, 18-year old daughter who thinks the world revolves around her), I go to a post about a random crime in Arkansas, and it turns into a forum where people who don't agree with me on politics feel free to lob insults when I hadn't even posted anything. So to repeat, all you third-graders throwing the verbal spitballs can get screwed.

    Duh dum duh
In a search of Johnson's home, police found a post-it note with Gwatney's name on it.
Gwatney was targeted by the shooter, but no one has yet any idea.
