Can some of the writing pros on the board help me understand why these instructions (bolded and enlarged as they were on the exam) were apparently so hard to understand?

You have 150 minutes (i.e., 2.5 hours) to take this exam. The exam is due at 1:30 p.m. If Blackboard reports that you violated either of these conditions, a grade of zero may be recorded for your final exam score.

Eleven o'clock is kind of early in the day to be asked for that kind of attention to detail.

Clearly the exam is meant to get students ready for their future sports editor gig, when they leave the desk by 2 p.m.

I'm assuming some students thought they had to 1:30 to finish the exam, even if they started before 11 a.m.

I could see why someone would make that mistake.
