Anyone ever created a Web site?

I'm thinking of building a Web site for personal use, but I have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to build one, where to get a domain name from, should you buy Web site designer software or get it off the internet?

I believe Google now offers hosting and a simple, free design tool.

I just built one for a class I was in. We used Dreamweaver. I built mine with CSS (cascading style sheets), which are incredibly easy to use.

I host mine at godaddy.com, where I purchased the domain name.

If you're on a mac, look into iWeb. It's dead useful when you're just starting out.

Cool. That seems like a good place to start.

I struggled with CSS simply because everytime I saved a page, I got extranious coding...

Double-check your spelling. That can cause problems sometimes.

I liked Dreamweaver when I last did some web designing. Check with your Internet provider. Many of the bigger ones (AOL) provide free space without having to purchase a domain.
