Any successful "independent web journalists" (bloggers)?

  1. In the past 30 days or so - he's had interviews with ESPN Ombudsman Le Anne Schreiber, Al Michaels and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. That's not bullshit. That's some very interesting reading. I especially enjoyed the Al Michaels interview. Good, good stuff.

$26,049 - according to mywebsiteworth.com (such a credible site, I know. One of the first ones that popped up on a search)

I saw that and good for him. But I'm still skeptical that his Wild West ways (that's the complete bullshit to which I was referring) will allow him to succeed--or land big-time interview subjects--in the long run.

I had a months-long feud with Mizzou over TBL and have no interest in going down that road with you or Poindexter or anybody else who likes the guy, so we'll just agree to disagree. And if I'm wrong in the long run, I'll be the first to admit it.

OK, stupid question here because I have zero idea about ad rates and all for the Web. Is that monthy income or annual income?

  5. My guess is annual. But as traffic increases - it could easily be in six figures. Glenn Reynolds could easily be making six figures for his political blog same for Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo

From what I understand about the web business game, advertising rates are the shits unless your page views are more than a million per month, at least. It's at that level you attract larger advertisers who pay a better CPM (cost per thousand) rate.

  7. Here's Instapundit's traffic for the past 12 months. Well over 6 million visits every month - and growing.

I doubt that any sports blog is close but I'd guess Deadspin to be about half that with TBL about half of Deadspin

If you're getting a million page views per month, you should be getting at least at least $5 per CPM, which equates to $5,000 per month.

This subject got me curious so I went searching. Found this. Have no idea if this site is credible or not. Maybe ChrisL would know.

My chain is on board with Quantcast. And the data is good since Gawker is using Quantcast code for tracking.

  11. I'm not sure how much I'd trust the Quantcast numbers. They have Fark.com at 1.9 million visits per month

Fark.com should definitely be double Instapundit and I'm very confident about the Instapundit numbers I posted

I would have guessed the Deadspin numbers to be at least double what Quantcast shows.

NBC used them for the Olympics according to this archive
