Another Doonesbury casualty in Iraq?

B.D. made it home with three limbs intact. I fear his Guard buddy Ray Hightower might not be as lucky:

I know it is just a comic strip, but man, I like the Ray Hightower character. Still, I am impressed with how Trudeau keeps the strip relevant after all this time and has not sacrificed its biting edge.

Trying to remember another Doonesbury character killed off...other than Duke when he wasn't really dead, but zombied and sold (something like that).

Andy Lipincott (?) died of AIDS and then spent several years reappearing from the afterlife.

 

Lacey Davenport finally kicked, too, didn't she?

 

Dick Davenport died of a heart attack while bird-watching. Lacey Davenport died from Alzheimer's. Andy Lippincott died of AIDS.

I believe Jim Andrews, the corporate mogul, also died.

Duke did not die. He was zombified in Haiti but came back.

 

If Doonesbury wanted to be realistic, most of the characters would have died of drug overdoses in the '70s.

 

Just how closely did you read the series? Duke and Zonker were the only ones who habitually used/abused drugs, even during the '70s. Mark Slackmeyer toked up from time to time but Mike never did. And neither did B.D.

 

Bullshit. Lacey Davenport was a dirty hippie and she deserved to die.

I don't think the right wing blogosphere cares much about a comic strip.
Trudeau has gotten more shrill than biting. He used to be a lot more subtle, and he would poke both sides.
He's now a one-trick pony.
