Former APSE president who has posted here before leaving the Salt Lake Tribune to run the LANG mothership of newspapers. A return to SoCal as he's the former sports editor at the L.A. Daily News.

Who does he replace in SoCal?

Not sure there has been anyone with this exact title/position. Carolina Garcia, who's been serving as executive editor of the L.A. Daily News, Torrance Daily Breeze and Long Beach Press-Telegraph, probably comes closest to holding it right now.

Anastasi does seem a pretty natural pick for the job, and, if LANG is really seeking input and organization from a passionate, caring journalist, he's a good choice, too.

He certainly can get up to speed on the atmosphere of the nine papers pretty quickly, but there's definitely more changes coming.

Wow. Best of luck to Michael. A couple of editor charges over at the SLT.
