    Job Description Role & responsibilities along with co-A.M.E. of Newsroom:


    Direct report responsibility for editors of 24x7x365 Newsroom.

    Supervisory role of entire Editorial operation: news desk, copy desk, writers.

    Operational savvy; adept at management of the moving parts.

    Oversee maintenance of all editorial content across all platforms.

    Working days/nights/weekends … whatever is needed for season/event.

    Shared responsibility for scheduling editors.

    Expected to create a voice and personality consistent with Editorial vision, and to strengthen CBSSports.com as a trusted authority on sports.


    Ideal candidate:


    Significant media industry and interactive experience.

    Strong strategic planning skills and the ability to define the operations of content and execute through a team of editors.

    Bold style with a unique vision which translates into content and programming that engages the consumer and increases site traffic. Analytics experience preferred.

    Journalistic innovation and initiative to discover new ways to engage users, including having keen eye to increase referrals via search, social media.

    Proven leadership success in an editorial role managing a team of editors.

    Must possess exemplary judgment and decision-making skills.

    Innovative individual; possesses vision across online/social media

    Uncomfortable with the status quo; always looking to improve.

    Trustworthy, committed, considerate and skilled; high emotional IQ, good listener.

    Able to develop a staff, individually and on a macro level.

    Required Skills/Experience Experience requirements:


    Online/newspaper editorial work in sports.

    Editorial planning and online content management.

    10-15 years of copy desk experience; at least 5-plus years online preferred.

    Minimum 5 years of Newsroom management experience.

    Social media experience preferred.
