    Repeating what was said above:

40 video cameras for the newsroom!?!

How much does that cost and who's going to use them?

    Is Larry O'Rourke still there?

  4. if you say so. i've always found the writing, for the most part, to be average. some are better than others, of course, but overall average.

I've always thought so. I think it's a little underrated, really.

Well, that explains why the sports copy editor position that was posted some month ago went through the metro copy desk and not sports.

Lots of good people there, and it is a writer's paper. Design has never been a strong point, though.

    BTW, who was let go?

I know they recently lost Jay Hart to Yahoo Sports, and he was the lowest in seniority.

Actually, for a time there in the late 1970s and through the 1980s, it was considered one of the sharpest-looking 100Ks in the nation. Today it's not really my taste, but it's certainly not bad:

A U-desk is a new reality here, and I just fixed, no lie, 27 errors in a nine-game state roundup that was done by a news-sider. And he was one of the ones who has actually helped us out before, one of the ones who supposedly is more grounded in knowing this stuff. We replated for a page we shouldn't have had to replate for.

    Help us all.
