That's true a lot of times it is cheaper to settle than fight. The decision is often made by insurance companies. But the fact more than one women complained don't look good.

I think most of us realize that settlement does not equal guilt. There are tactical reasons to settle. It sucks, because lawsuits are transformed into legalized extortion, particularly when the settlements are accompanied by gag orders. Unfortunately for Cain, I don't think the public takes quite such a nuanced view.

If there is a gag order attached to the settlement, I wonder if the other parties have, legally, waived it by leaking the news?

True -- but I can imagine the scenerio where he made some stupid comments around the office, both employees may have been happy and/or well regarded and they used this to get a payout.

A CEO making sexually inappropriate remarks? That's a shocker.

One of the girls asked what was that white stuff on the pizza. I guess they didn't like the answer.

    Uh, oh.

Cain said it’s possible that more sexual harassment allegations could be forthcoming, but that they would be baseless. “If more allegations come, I assure you, people will simply make them up. … The only other allegations will be trumped-up allegations. There is nothing else.”

I have a feeling he doesn't recover from this.
