Weren't there something like 30 people kicked out of the stadium? Guessing Red Sox security corroborated the story and that's why the organization acknowledged it and apologized for it.

"Early on, people were laughing that he was throwing peanuts at Jones. But towards the end, I realized most people were just giving dirty looks," said Poulakidas. "The N-word was the turning point for sure. Once that was said, everything turned serious."

I think it's reasonable and likely that the Red Sox got confirmation the story was true before they apologized. Same goes for the mayor.

Edit: MileHigh beat me to it.

I'm getting reminders that the fan base we're dealing with also brought us Deflategate.

A difference of potentially thousands of witnesses, none of whom has come forward to paint an alternative picture

If you wait 6 months you may get a story gifted to you for not running with it now.

Hadn't seen that, so that ends everything for me.

Does lead to the bigger question - when did Lupica become a reporter again?

The slurs wouldn't have happened if Andrew Jackson was still around.

True. I forgot the timeline. He did time in Alcatraz, I think.

False. Happened as he was about to walk into the dugout. The hooligan threw the bag of peanuts at Jones, who I believe has been quoted as saying it hit the cop working the dugout.

Albert Breer wants to know what the hell kind of name Poulakidas is, if that is indeed the guy's real name.

I mean, it also says something about the crowd that it was amused by the guy throwing peanuts at Jones.
