Brian Bannister is now 12-7 with a 3.16 ERA. So long as the ERA stays near what it is now, he's the ROY.

No love for Micah Owings? I know Braun's got it locked up, but Owings should be on the ballot at least.

Some interesting numbers regarding Alex "The Garbage Man" Gordon, comparing him to other rookies (prior to Sunday's two-home run game):

    At bats: Second (459)
    Runs: Fifth (55)
    Hits: Third (115)
    Doubles: Third (29)
    Triples: Third (4)
    Home runs: Second (12)
    RBI: Second (53)
    Stolen bases: Third (13)
    Walks: Fifth (36)

Gordon is the only AL rookie in the top five in each category. Note: Only five rookies qualified to be on BA, Slugging, OBP lists as of Sunday. Batting average aside (it is up to .249 I believe). If we're just talking field players and not pitchers, Gordon has been the best all-around rookie so far. But obviously, the best AL rookies this year are pitchers.

    I'll take Pedroia over Gordon.

Beats him in Runs (66-53), hits (135-113), 2Bs (31-29), BA (.322-.247) OBP (.392-.318) and Slugging (.444.-.407). And all after a terrible start. Plus he's been very good in the field.

Gordon had a terrible start, too, plus, Gordon would be a Gold Glove third baseman if it wasn't for the fact that they select players based on BATTING AVERAGE and not stellar fielding (see Palmeiro, Rafael, DH a few years ago for 1B).

But Bannister has had the best season of any rookie pitcher in the A.L.

I still say Dick-K or Pedroia win it because they are in the big market. And I still say Dick-K is vastly overrated.

Palmeiro's award was a joke based on previous performance. Haven't seen Gordon enough in the field yet.

We'll agree to disagree on Daisuke.

So which is the bigger bet: Ryan Braun for N.L. RoY or Rick Ankiel for N.L. Comeback PoY?

Dice-K is one helluva pitcher. But considering the hype and team, Bannister has outpitched Dice-K this year.

    Second that.

Bannister -- 12-7, 3.16 ERA (tied for fourth in AL with Bedard), 72 Ks, 36 walks, 9 HRs allowed
    Dice-K -- 13-11, 3.88 ERA (19th in AL), 174 Ks, 66 walks, 20 HRs allowed

You will never see a better defensive play to preserve a no-hitter than his Saturday night.

The hype has made it much more pressure-filled for Dice to pitch.
