    While Lidge was a legitimate candidate for this award, I have to agree with you. Cantu was barely hanging on as a utility guy before this season and his one previous big year was looking like a fluke.

    The timeline hurts him, unfortunately. It's just like any other annual award. If you come up in July, you don't have a chance to win rookie of the year that year, or the next year. It's not fair, but it's life.
