    No thread on this yet?

The Jeter haters must have passed out upon hearing the news.

They once gave a gold glove to a DH. The award has no meaning and everyone's known that for years.

And handing Jeter another Gold Glove this year proved it. Utter fucking joke.

Mark Buehrle won a Gold Glove, bitches! The Sox season was not a waste. Woohoo!

Should have just given Tex two awards. He deserved it.

Other winners (believe it or not, there are other teams out there ::)):

Evidence there is no God, vol. 5,000.

OOP nailed it: An utter fucking joke. Except for Buehrle. He's awesome!

I'll admit that the award often goes to the player who has won it in the past or the good fielding player who has a outstanding offensive year -- which shouldn't matter -- but I'll bet it means a lot to jeter.

I know Wade Boggs was extremely appreciative when he won it.

And yes, Jeter might not be the best fielding SS in the AL, but he was good this year and improved over his past coupe of years -- no easy feat for a player of his age.

But my first thought upon hearing the news was that the heads of sabermatricians (is that a word?) were exploding all over the country.

Didn't mean to slight the other winners. But Jeter winning is the "big news" -- especially around here.

Longoria will win for the next five years -- at least -- if he doesn't get injured.

No sabermatrician (yes, it's a word) cares about who wins a Gold Glove.

Good for Jeter that it means a lot to him. I'm sure lots of things have emotional value to him, doesn't mean anyone else should care.

So glad he can appreciate an honor he doesn't deserve. Isn't that special?

The only reason it is big news is that he doesn't deserve the award.

You could argue that Mauer is big news, winning the Gold Glove at catcher while having such an amazing offensive year. Not a surprise, but still impressive.

For the record, UZR had Jeter at a career-high 6.6 runs above average, third among AL shortstops.
