Did they try using short boxes before eliminating them entirely?

Although if we were stuck with a 4 page section, you better believe NHL/NBA/college/etc. agate is the first thing to go, standings excluded.

The Free Press stopped running NHL boxscores this season. They refer readers to the website.

    WFFW. And this too.

If the major metro wants to shoot itself in the foot, God bless 'em. It won't be happening here.

One way to get around using the box scores is to do a today's best graphic where you can at least ID the players with the most points, rebounds, assists, goals, etc. Still not as good as running the box scores but at least it gets some of the relevant info in.

I understand, in these times, the logic of letting others run box scores. I really do.

But that doesn't make it any less disturbing that we've come to this.

So I asked a good question, when I asked this question:

There is a neverending list of papers that aren't what they used to be.

The AJC has made the biggest fall of any and it's not close. In five or six years it's gone from being one of the best sections in the country to one of the worst big papers in the country.

    Truly sad.

I get more complaints about our scoreboard page than any other element. That "crap" is very well read.

    Dallas? Seattle P-I?

Regardless, your point is well-taken. It really is sad to see what's happened to the AJC.
