    Sorry, Chef, is wasn't quite B.C. (Before Chef) when I hit 32... but you were pretty young at that time. ;D

    So far I've celebrated every birthday as another good year lived, and I will do it again tomorrow. I'm blessed.

    I turn 49 on Jan. 10 ... and I think 50 will be a mind-altering experience.

    So far, I've never had a problem with a birthday. I feel and live younger than I am -- which is another way of saying I still live like I did in my mid-20s.

    But 40 isn't that far down the road and I know there's a good chance it will fuck me up if I'm not more settled than I am now.

    Every birthday where I'm not where I thought I should be is like a little funeral for me. Every year the dirge gets more somber.

  7. 43 and haven't have a rough birthday yet ... emphasis on the "yet."

    We'll see how 45 goes.

    50 was a breeze.

    the 5-0 gets me next june. bring it on, i say.

    as noted earlier, 40 was my waterloo. there can only be one, right?

    I'm a few weeks into my 42nd year. I never thought I'd live past 30 and certainly spent many nights in my 30s shortening my lifespan but here I am, hanging around until they tell me to leave.
