Anthony Weiner and the Rise of the 21st Century Slutrepreneur
    Jun. 7 2011 - 4:01 pm
    In Honor of Weinergate

I’ve been watching Weinergate unfold and the women with whom he sexted and sexbooked crawl out of the woodwork, and I’ve been trying to think of a name for the growing number of women who are making money by selling their stories of having sex with, having sexted with, or having otherwise gotten sexual with a famous man.

    Slutrepreneur, perhaps?

Surely, I mean no “slut-shaming” by this moniker. It’s not so much that these women may or may not be sexually slutty — after all, in the case of Weinergate, how truly slutty can you be when you’re limited to a direct message on Twitter? — it’s that these women are so quick to wag their tongues, share their dirty text messages, and sell their photos and stories to whatever media outlets will pay the price.

Like journalists, they are media sluts.

In the case of Rep. Anthony Weiner’s wiener gone wild, ABC News reportedly paid Weiner’s former virtual lover Meagan Broussard between $10,000 and $15,000 “to license dozens of photos, emails, Facebook messages and cell phone call logs.”

Are you a (hopefully) young, (ideally) attractive woman looking to generate extra income fast? Earn big bucks by getting frisky online or offline with a political figure or Hollywood celebrity, and media outlets that insist they don’t “pay” for stories will buy the detritus of your torrid affair! All you have to do is take the cash — and infamy awaits you. I’m counting the hours until Playboy makes an offer to Broussard. The Woman Who Won Weiner’s Wiener, the cover will read. Inside, a male model dressed like Weiner will be sexting in the corner while Broussard lounges nude on a desk, daydreaming of Weiner, a BlackBerry in one hand.

Why can't Octomoma cash in like this?

At last an advantage to be a poor, starving journalist: You can sext with impunity, knowing a beautiful slutrepreneur will never try to blackmail you, because you don't have shit anyway.

You do have a wife whom you share message boards with, so...not so much.

If pics of Weiner's ummm, weiner, are worth $15K, I should able to land at least a couple of C-notes.

This fiction that ABC isn't paying for a story but to "license" photos, etc. - you know "the proof" that the network needs to go forward - is pretty damn funny. The NCAA should look into it.

As interesting sidebar Megan Broussard is Ben Broussard's sister.
