Very true. The republicans who live there are much more extreme than the majority of the country.

Much like Kansas, a lotta rock-ribbed evangies. Whatever turns them on.

Santorum "all the way up" to 11% in a NH poll taken today.

No wonder Romney is an odds-on 1-25 in the state.

It depends on how you define "charm". To me Iowa is a place where the simple pleasures are more magnified because there is less distraction.

Coming from the sensory numbing Northeast I find it relaxing to just drive around the uncluttered roads watching the corn grow. Never understood what the big deal was about Dairy Queen to I stopped in one in a small
Iowa town and grabbed a cone. Sat on a bench on a beautiful early autumn day and just stared into the cornfield. It was one of the most relaxing 20 minutes I've ever spent.

Definitely an acquired taste but one that grows on you.

Are you sure that was a cone and not a 'shroom cap?

And Mike Lupica piles on with his own cynical view of "white bread" Iowa.

Can't imagine that Luppy has ever been to Iowa. He won't even drive to Yankee Stadium to cover a game if it's on TV.

Ironic given that he lives in one of most white bread towns in the country.

What he doing writing about politics anyway?
