Buster Olney writes the best column ever today! :)

It's behind the paywall, so I'm not sure what the protocol is for posting highlights?

Essentially, he breaks players into categories:

    LOCKS
    A-Rod (depending on PED's)
    Jeter
    Rivera
    Chipper
    Thome
    Vizquel
    Pujols
    Cabrera
    Halladay

    PROBABLY
    Rolen

    MAYBE
    Big Papi
    Johan Santana
    Helton
    Beltran!
    Andruw Jones
    Adrian Beltre
    Utley

    GETTING CLOSE
    Konerko
    Sabathia
    Hudson

    PROBABLY NOT, BUT GETTING CLOSER
    Hunter
    Rollins

It's seriously becoming the Hall of Really Good.

After Dawson and Rice, it's tough to argue with that statement.

The thing is, I can support a big tent HOF, in principle. But the guys who are in and the guys who are out seem odd to me. Dawson and Rice but now Evans, Allen, or Belle? Odd.

Until that post, I had forgotten that today begins 17 weeks of us fighting again. It's unfortunate. We've been so amicable!

Nah, you'll come around. All will repent and be followers by Week 6.

As for the HOF, that is just something I can't say I understand the multiyear hand-wringing. However, when Jack Morris is elected in January it's going to be one of the greatest days ever on the Internet.

Let's follow Time's example and put "you" in the Hall of Fame

Where does Ichiro fit in? I think he is a lock. Cano should be in the "Getting Closer" group.

Interesting that he left Mauer off the list. His star has dimmed quite a bit in the last couple years.

I thought the Dawg Pound in Cleveland was up for consideration.

This isn't new. I'm looking right at you, Ray Schalk.

Heck, "Really Good" would be an improvement over some of those early Veterans Committee inductees.

It's been the Hall of Really Good ever since 1939.

If anyone has the idea that the Hall "used to have standards", they're completely ignoring the entire history of the HOF.
