MGM and the Farrelly brothers are closing in on their cast for "The Three Stooges."

Studio has set Sean Penn to play Larry, and negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Curly, with the actor already making plans to gain 40 pounds to approximate the physical dimensions of Jerome "Curly" Howard.

The studio is zeroing in on Benicio Del Toro to play Moe.

I'm repulsed, yet intrigued at the same time.

    Has potential. I'm definitely in.

    But, who plays Shemp?

When I think laugh-out-loud, kooky hijinks, I think Benecio Del Toro and Sean Penn.

I saw it when I looked up Sean Penn movies on IMDB for the sheep game. It has Johnny Depp as the rumored Moe, though that could change.

Jim Carrey wouldn't be a good Curly. Maaaaaaybe 15 years ago, but not now. Of course, 15 years ago it would have gone to Chris Farley, who only would have been perfect for it.

Are there ANY good fat comedy actors these days?

I'll not go watch with you.

I can't imagine this movie being half as good as the original shorts.
