Paid a mint to poach Gail Goestenkors from Duke, gone after five seasons.

Karen Aston didn't fare badly - won more than 2/3rds of her games. Contract not renewed.

Why? Kim Mulkey. Longhorns went 1-16 against Baylor under Aston.

Apparently, Texas has made clear that they'll keep recycling coaches until they rule over Waco again.

That is amazing. There's no decent reason that Baylor should beat Texas 15 times out of 16.

Not in Jody Conradt's day, no. But blame the idiots in Ruston.

Mechelle Voepel wrote a great piece highlighting that Leon Barmore was going to step aside at Louisiana Tech because she wanted to give her former star player and assistant coach a shot at taking over. The idiots there offered her only four years. Mulkey wanted five.

So Mulkey sadly went to Waco, which was a women's basketball graveyard when she arrived. And look what happened to Louisiana Tech ... major slippage, a quick firing trying to stop the bleeding, the Tyler Summitt disaster and ... well ... Louisiana Tech has joined Immaculata, Delta State and the other great pioneer women's programs in the rearview mirror.

How does Mulkey get Brittney Griner, Odyssey Sims, Lauren Cox and Kalani Brown? Some folks in Austin would certainly like to know.

How about the fact practically no one has beaten Baylor since 2011-12? The Bears have a .933 winning percentage with two national championships in that span.

You could say that in pretty much every sport at Texas though. It's not just that they miss on a coach, but baseball, men's and women's hoops, football - they underachieve. That's what they do.

Three straight seasons under .500 will get you fired.

Steve Forbes is a great get for Wake, can we all agree?

He’ll need to explain the show-cause thing. But if he’s as gregarious as everyone says, that could be a good fit.

He's past the show-cause. He'll win. They'll get over it.

    See Pearl, Bruce.

It's not like we had a normal season/post-season with annual firings and carousel, but Forbes looks to me like the second best hire, behind only Andy Kennedy.
