Rain and a howling wind last night after I was in bed. Wind to the point that the racket woke me up, and once I'm down I sleep heavily.

The only good thing about it was that it passed through fast.

Alabama Power says that there are 270,000 people without power.

Two large trees block my street. Thankfully, my kid was out when they fell, so now we have a car on the other side of the barrier should we need to leave. Been without power now for almost two hours.

Writing this from the air card. We lost power around 4. According to the electric co-op, 26,000 of their 35,000 meters are down.

Another reason for vote by mail, or early voting. What if this (or a blizzard in northern/mountain states, or ice storm in Texas/Georgia/Oklahoma) would have hit on election day?

I saw where multiple school systems in the Piedmont were virtual today and tomorrow because of the expected storm.

Under/over on the number of Americans who think zeta is the last letter in the Greek alphabet?

We have underground power lines. But apparently a pole went down that feeds those lines. They estimate restoration around 3 p.m.

It is bizarre to see its "name" on the screen, because it seems like a placeholder name or graphic. Like how the Bluths fundraise for TBD in "Arrested Development."

Or, Hurricane ETA will make landfall at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
