A lot of his game is predicated on close-quarters quickness, hustle and quick reaction. (Very much like Rodman in that regard.)
Once you lose one step, that stuff can vanish like a fart in the wind.

IIRC, it was a slow-healing ankle sprain that did Isiah Thomas in. He lost that lightning first step.

    1) Thomas isn't out of the league (technically)
    2) Thomas appears to be more of a flash in the pan

I think he's talking about the 1980s Thomas, although if you look at Basketball Reference, it contours more with my argument - Shorter guard (6'1") that had an injury that sapped his quickness, and his defensive rating slipped from 104 in his age 28 season to 113 in his age 32, final season.

Isiah Thomas = HOF player with Pistons, 1981-94

Isaiah Thomas = the other guy

Well, it could certainly be argued that leg/foot problems are bringing down the present day Isaiah Thomas, too.

Isaiah Thomas' season with the Celtics in which he finished 5th in MVP voting was an astounding and underappreciated achievement. For that one year, he snuck up on people and played at an Allen Iverson level. Then the hip problems started.

Welp, so much for the Lakers' depth.

    Breaking: Boogie Has Torn ACL

The dumbest people in American professional sports play in the NBA.

Apparently tore while playing basketball in the Bahamas in flip flops.

In a year and a half:

    Torn Achilles
    Torn quad
    Torn ACL

What a brutal series of events.
