    So I idly turned to the Cubs-Astros game and the announcer said, "that's the kind of hitter baseball people look for in 2019, he makes contact but also slugs it." That was the kind of hitter they were looking for in 1919, too.

    Stat I just heard was that its either strikeout, walk or homer 36% of the time now. And people wonder why America's Pastime is fading? Homers have always been nice but I grew up in a time when 80 RBIs and 25 HRs meant something, and there was the possibility of action on every pitch. Today's game is not attractive to me.

    in 1970 it meant you were 32nd in the NL in RBI. Last year it meant you were 24th.
