Cardinals just put up five against Scherzer and lead 5-1 going into the eighth.

Wainwright goes 7 with only the unearned run on a Fowler error.

And Fowler redeems himself by robbing Cabrera of a three-run home run, going above the wall in right to make the catch.

I wonder if all the racist hilljack Cardinals fans who went after Fowler and his wife will ever apologize ...

You realize I meant redeems himself for the error today, right?

Fowler was hurt and terrible last year, and was done no favors by Matheny. He has thrived playing for Shildt and being healthy.

OK, that doesn't really address the racism and the attacking of his wife.

And I don’t know any of the assholes who went after Fowler and his wife.

You could paint any fan base with that broad brush.

Big win for the Cardinals. Even if the Cubs win 3 of 4 over the weekend, they are no worse than tied.

Of course, the Brewers have to like that the Cubs and Cards will be knocking each other off 7 times in the next 10 games.

And Wainwright has apparently stepped into a time machine and gone back about a decade or so.

That’s four great outings by Wainwright, but he’s been brutal on the road this year. His next start should be at home.

Rotation sets up for Flaherty and Hudson to face the Cubs twice each.

The Nats aren’t making the playoffs.

Unless the Giants blow a nine-run lead in the ninth inning, Bochy's about to get his 2,000th win.
