I remember when he teamed with Kevin Sullivan's cult as the "Purple Haze" during the Florida wars with Dusty Rhodes. He was managed by the great Gary Hart:

He sure loved to bark during matches, and interviews. He had a hell of sleeper hold for a finisher, though.

One of the most awesome promos I've ever seen. And Lewin doesn't even say a word.

The clip where he comes out of the ocean as the Purple Haze with Sullivan calling for him is so cheesy, it's great.

There's another clip, somewhere, where he starts going into the crowd, and the fans all start running away from him. Talk about such a realistic character.

He also was in tremendous shape and wrestled until he was around 60.

I saw a match or two somewhere where Dusty, early in his career, actually tried dropkicks. Seemed pretty weird at the time.

Even more stranger, in his early years, Andre was quite agile, and even would jump off the top rope. Must have been a pretty scary sight to his opponents.

Also, it's amazing how much footage is on the Internet and how matches that everyone would think were dream matches actually are out there. Like we were talking about comparing nowadays to the 80s, if the Web was around back then, everyone would be complaining about Hogan/Andre at WM3, because there'd be so many clips from just seven years earlier.

Finally watching the Flair doc. Some great stuff but man, it is rough. Nothing fake about what he sacrificed for fame.

The rumor is Big Show would do a back flip off the corner when he was in the Power Plant.

He did do some drop kicks off the top early in his career, and he'd do then against large jobbers.

I always thought he should have saved them for a major PPV, but nope.

Yeah, and it barely even touched his financial fuck-ups with his investments and never paying people for things.

Plus when you calculate how much he blew on alcohol for himself and everyone in the bar for over 40+ years, it's crazy.

Vader used to do a tremendous back-flip from the top ropes. Another agile big man was Bam Bam Bigelow.

That is just to name drop two of them. There were a lot more who were extremely athletic in the ring, and you would not believe it by just seeing them.

Here's another gif to show how agile Andre really was.

I remember seeing something on Big Show where he said he did a moonsault off the top rope and Hogan gave him a call the next day or that night telling him to never do that again.

Saying something like, you're a Giant. Giants don't do that, give themselves up like that. Show never did it again.

Better he not do it instead of doing it and this happening...
