One of the chip leaders in the $40k event entering today was Kyle Wilson, former college hoops player at UMass and San Jose State. Also happens to have a hot wife.

    Ivey, Esfandiari are gone.

Moneymaker rolls along, currently eighth in chips according to the leaderboard.

Bonomo, Townsend and Brian Rast are all over 1 million chips.

Looks like a blood bath of big names so far......

Doyle Brunson, Matusow, Hellmuth, Lisandro, Huck Seed, Ivy, seif, DeMichele, Cowboy Corkins.....all gone.

Meanwhile Raymer, Tony G, Moneymaker and Teddy Forest all hanging around.

    You think?

I hate his slow, deliberate pace, it would annoy me if I played at a table with him but he seems to be a pretty solid player.

Edit - Alex Jacob has left the building.

And don't look now but the big stack is Greg Raymer and there are very few players as dangerous, as intimidating and as smart as he is when he is the big stack. He is clearly a player who understands that chips are power -- so I think he has to be the favorite now.

I was thinking the same thing, zag. Raymer can control a table.

That's one reason why I like Raymer. He's classy, intelligent and he plays damn good poker without being a douchenozzle. He understands you can be an effective poker pro without being an effective assclown in the process.

And CI, are you playing in the WSOP this year?

We're remodeling the kitchen, so we're short ... staycations for the family CI. Been playing a lot of cash games lately at local casino and online. Definitely one of my favorite times of year, though. Never thought reading dry updated blog posts at wsop.com could be so enthralling.

I love poker so much ... reminds me of what Phil Laak once said. To paraphrase: "The best time in the world is sitting at a poker game. The second best time is driving to the poker game."

We are at the money bubble in the 40k, with Phil Galfond being eliminated 28th.

Meh, I lost a bit of respect for Raymer when he bitched about running bad on the 2+2 forums over the last year.
Dude, you won the WSOP, then made a deep run the next year. I think there's a grace period where you're prohibited from any complaining about bad beats after those two runs. STFU.
