There's a part of me that wants to see McGwire up there with Ripken and Gwynn...

Two of the classiest players of our generation and the big, dumb steroid freak...

Always think McGwire and Sosa get way too much credit for "saving the game." It wasn't going anywhere.

You got that right. I want to throw up every time I read that overreactionary, save-the-game nonsense.

This is exactly why he doesn't belong in the HOF. The face of baseball in the late 90s was built on a terrible, dangerous lie and all the good he ever did is perfectly offset by his appearance in D.C.

  5. Here's my ballot for 2007:

    in:
    Tony Gwynn
    Jim Rice
    Cal Ripken

    still debating:
    Bert Blyleven
    Andre Dawson
    Jack Morris
    Dale Murphy
    Dave Parker
    Lee Smith

No debating Gossage but debating Smith and Parker??

Goose should also be a lock.

More dominant than Sutter. Just as feared on the mound as Rice was at the plate during those years.

I hate when people say that McGwire and Sosa "saved the game," because by "saving it" they actually ruined it. And I say anyone who taints the game doesn't get in. And that's all I have to say about that.

Of course McGwire and Sosa saved the game! Mike Lupica said so, therefore, it must be true [sarcasm font]
