MSG reported this (I am on their feed in Pittsburgh today) and TSN had it on their web site, but pulled it soon thereafter.

That's bullship, if true. Simon's hit was just as bad as McSorley's, IMO.

You know, I initially thought 22 sounded about right. But, darn, the more I think about it I don't see how it could/should be anything short of 40.

Un-forking-believable.

Essentially, Simon gets a month's free vacation.

Absolutely should be "for life," with the implicit understanding that after a year or so, he can apply for reinstatement, and if he ever touches anybody on the ice again, he can throw his goddamn skates away for good.

Yeah, that would hamper his effectiveness as a player. Tough ship.

You get anything more than a 5-minute major, ever again, and you can go play in the beer leagues, sonny boy.

I guess the stick would have to land an inch lower and crushthe dude's windpipe to get a suspension with teeth. If it's only 22 games, the NHL should be embarrashed. I'm in the for-life group.

TSN has withdrawn what appears to be an erroneous report from the MSG Network.

Starman, he doesn't get a "free vacation" whatever the suspension is.

The days of teams giving suspended players a "bonus" at t he end of the year for salary lost are long gone.

And players don't get paid for the playoffs.

It'll be less than McSorley's because the NHL will reason that Hollweg wasn't seriously hurt on the play (other than a few stitches on the cin)
