Information: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel seeks a reporter to cover high school sports in Palm Beach County.

We're looking for someone with high energy and strong journalistic skills to work in a very competitive market. In addition, there will be some general ashignment stories during summers.

The area of coverage ranges from Boca Raton to Belle Glade and Jupiter.

There are certainly worse gigs than covering preps in South Florida. The last time I was in Miami, I was really impressed with the Sun-Sentinel, though it's been a while since I've seen the paper.

I know some papers choose to go this route, but (in my best Seinfeld) what's the deal with some papers just asking for a cover letter and resume.
By no means, am I opposed to it. Just was curious to hear a lil feedback.

There are a lot of people too lazy to do it. It's a way to lighten the amount of resumes.

Don't worry. ::)
If you work for the Sun Sentinel, you won't be living in a box. Pay is good. Job is good. Don't worry, be happy.

I don't get your answer, MU. Who's too lazy? Those sending or receiving?
I know we had a thread on this a way back, but if they only ask for cover/resume, is it a major %*#&$(*& if you send clips too?
Do they cull the group based on cover/resume and call for clips if so desired?

I missed the part re: papers asking "JUST" for resumes and cover letters.

That sounds like a pretty darn good job, especially for someone who loves high school football. FLA is up there with Texas, California and Pennsylvania when it comes to elite preps football action.
