That crappy ARod

Sheffield's still coming back from the injury. He has an excuse. And he has come through in the postseason prior to today, as has Jeter. Can't say that about A-Rod.

But but but ...

A-Rod's a career .300 hitter in the postseason! You've got to count his WHOLE career. ::) ::) ::)
If you are going to bring up Sheffield's prior numbers and World Series ring, why is it unfair to bring up A-Rod's?
And watch Jeter come through time and time again, as well, (and who knew that a player could still focus with all the ball-sucking going on in the media ...)

Did you watch today's game? Jeter really came through in the clutch. Two terrible throws to first, popping up a bunt in the first inning, grounding out with two runners on in the second and don't forget striking out on ball 4 against Zumaya.
Oh, and he is making a cool 19 million a year, not quite ARod money, but I guess that extra 6 million means ARod has to go 5-for-5 with five grand slams every game he ever plays in the postseason. It is just so funny how he gets all the hatred, yet Giambi struck out in a one run game in the eighth. I mean, why didn't he get on base?

That .300 career postseason average overlooks, of course, the fact that he has repeatedly -- and repeatedly, and repeatedly -- struck out with the bases loaded (like he did today), and struck out to end the inning in a one-run game in the eighth (like he did today) ...

ARod: .294 career BA in postseason

I don't have his avg with the bases loaded in the postseason.... have no clue where to find it.

ARod the past four years with bases loaded (as far back as I could find splits):

38 for 104 (.365), 4 HR, 68 RBI

A-Rod hasn't driven in a run in his last 10 postseason games and is 5-for-40 (.125) in his last 11.

Jeter, Giambi, Damon and everyone else could do the same and no one would say a word. Well, other than if A-Rod had good numbers, he put them up in losses.

So, last 21 games DIDN'T matter in Pujols/Howard discussion, but last 10 games matter for ARod?

Hard trying to keep track of you guys.

A-Rod in 18 postseason games (thru today) with the Yankees:

19 for 73 (.260), 3 HR, 8 RBI

And still an absolute lock first-ballot Hall of Famer

Considering it's fully one-third of his postseason career, then yes. If your sample were 54 games, then your argument would hold water.

.294 career postseason average

He must have been incredible before your special 11 games.

.315 in LCS.

You are hilarious.

You know what, you're right, except no one else's agent sent around a leather bound book proclaiming ARod the greatest player of All Time. What's Arod's fault is that Scott Boras did his job wonderfully. All agents market their players, but Boras sold ARod as Jesus in cleats. And when you proclaim yourself the second coming and you fail to live up to it, becasue no one can live up to it, you suffer from failed expectations.

Boras pimped him so much, and for so much, that ARod went from a truely sublime player, to one that just doesn't meet the hype. And for the public, $250,000,000.00 is still a big number, but 2 HRs and 6RBIs in 18 games since he signed that contract just doesn't measure up.

And since Boras doesn't talk to the media about over selling his clients, ARod gets booed. Boras is great at what he does, but players need to learn that Boras has a huge amount baggage that players must carry around.
