Many, many of the stories about Burt are him being pretty much an insufferable ass.
Alex Trebek agrees with this statement.

A story I head years ago. I hope it's true. At a dinner party in ritzy Connecticut where Newman and Joanne Woodward lived, an older woman guest, clearly not into popular culture, asked Newman, "what do you do?" He replied without missing a beat, "Oh, I'm in the salad oil business."And made a better frozen pizza than you'd expect.
Saw this on Facebook. AI, probably, but it came out well ...A story I head years ago. I hope it's true. He said, "Boy, every piece of garbage that comes into the market and you gotta buy it!"What was the comment??????
He could have taken them to the Aces.I crossed paths with an older coach in my junior hockey days who was in Slap Shot as one of the opposing players. He played in that league at the time and said Newman loved hanging around the players as they drank after games, sitting in a corner listening to how they talked and interacted with each other. Said he was a terrific guy and not just because he always picked up the tab.
“Small track”?I know a couple writers who did some auto racing coverage at the small track where Newman raced. Said he could not have been a nicer or more modest guy.
Are you saying Loni never put on the foil?Poor Loni deserves better than my dumb ass
sidejacking this thread to a Paul Newman tribute,
but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oh well too bad she wasn't in "Slap Shot."
Pretty sure Newman did his regular sports car racing at Lime Rock."Small track"?
You mean Daytona International Speedway?![]()
He wasn’t a club racer. He raced in SCCA Trans Am and IMSA. He raced everywhere.Pretty sure Newman did his regular sports car racing at Lime Rock.
