That's ridiculous. If anything, they should make the court bigger.

Todays players have outgrown its dimensions and its harder and harder to get an open look for a shot because of the lack of spacing.

What do you guys think?

Agreed -- they should make the court bigger. It's amazing to look at some of the old clips, as compared to those of the current game; current players swallow up so much more of the space.

That said, the owners will not give up premium seating for more court.

Exactly.

When I watch old footage from yesteryear, there seems to be so much more spacing because the players were much shorter. We now have 7'0 SF's for christ sake. There is simply no more room.

To even dump in an entry pash nowadays is a task because of the length of today's players.

I thought the influx of European "playing the right way" players entering the league would help increase scoring.

But, for some odd reason, they're finding difficulty making their shots in the NBA as well.

If anything, open up the court some.

I think Carlisle is on to something. Offense has been so stifled, the beauty of the game has been completely lost. Last nights game was all but unwatchable.

I don't see how making the court bigger will have any effect. The game is played primarily in an area about 25 feet from the basket. No matter how big the court is, the game will still be played in that small area. If the court was as big as a football field, the defense would still pack into the paint.

I don't know. If a defense collapses into the paint there'd be a bit more spacing on the perimeter to at least get an open look.

Yeah, but how many players can make the open jumper if they are an extra foot away from the rim. As it is now, nearly every three pointer is taken just outside the arc.

If you want to increase the scoring, you would need to reduce the size of the ball or increase the size of the hoop.

Defenders are not allowed to touch the offensive players at all.

Players still make open shots when given the opportunity. It's those opportunities that are far and few between compared to yesteryear.

Even the "fundamentally sound" players find it tougher to shoot.

How about four men (eight total) on the court instead of making the court bigger?

The game slows down when teams do not send anyone to the glash to offensive rebound and keep 2-3 guys back to stop the fast break. The fast break used to be the easiest way to score. Now it is jacking a three. Somehow, the rules need to altered to allow and reward more running and slashing to the basket.

On another note, somehow the Suns are able to score.
