Co-worker was showing me a story in the Houston Chronicle about efforts to crack down on adult businesses in the Houston area. In response to a column on the topic, one reader presents a rather "interesting" point....
Here is a response for that Robert character. I too support decency and protection for our children. However I don't think closing down strip joints near schools is the answer. If you are so worried about protecting children then maybe the city should pash an ordinance requiring all churches to be at least 1500 feet from schools and anyplace children may gather including neighborhood playgrounds. Unless I am mistaken I believe that more children have been molested in CHURCHES than in any sexually oriented establishment. Oh yes, CHURCHES. I can not recall a single incident in which a child was lured into an adult book store or a strip joint and then molested anywhere in the country in the past 15 years if not longer. Yet there are countless stories of children being molested in churches by church officials and let's not even talk about children being molested at their SCHOOL by their teacher. Are you reading this C.E. Guillen? So let's add schools along with churches with being more than 1500 feet from children. Let's make it to where children under the age of 21 are not allowed in churches or schools without a parent for safety's sake. The pediphiles who prey on children come from all walks of life including the CLERGY and SCHOOL BOARDS across our country so to single out sexually oriented establishments is nothing more than typical church sponsored hypocrisy of " do as I say not as I do ".
Not saying I agree, but I had to admit, it was one of the more unique responses I've heard on the matter.
Thoughts, anyone?
And no, I don't think this will end well.
