The Lugar-Warner bill presented Friday demanding a new strategy by mid-October to restrict the mission of U.S. troops.suggests the plan be ready for implementation by next year.
And it's got some teeth.
However, never fail to expect a Democrat to spew hypocrisy....in other words, they want an end to the war but only if it's their measure:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid balked at the proposal because it would not require Bush to implement the strategy. He said he prefers legislation the Senate will vote on next week that would order combat troops to be out of Iraq by next spring.
Of course, Harry. It's your party's bill which has no chance in hell of pashing. This one at least has some Republicans ready to join - and you need that for enough punch to thwart a presidential veto.
But go ahead and pretend this is just like the immigration debate. Do nothing.
