ESPN: Dirk is NBA MVP

Why is the NBA the only pro sports league where it always leaks out who is going to be MVP? At least, it seems like there's always a leak on who is going to be MVP. Seems strange.

Sad day for the NBA. I'm sure Stern can't wait for the photo op.

Why sad? It's based on regular season, and on that basis, it's hard to say it wasn't deserved.

Just sad in light of the historic flameout

I would have voted for Nash or maybe Arenas (look at how the Wizards collapsed without him), but this isn't unprecedented. Moses Malone won the MVP in 1979, only to have his Rockets knocked out in the first round of the playoffs. In fact, they were swept.

The MVP is based on the regular season, so I guess they thought his was better than Nash's
