College Beat Writer -- The (Lafayette, La.) Daily Advertiser,

My advice is to volunteer to sweep floors and clean the bathrooms to get your foot in the door.

If you hire too fast, you're an asshole. If you hire too slow, you're an asshole. Will someone please distribute a "How to Hire Guide to Appease the Everyday Moron."

I've only seen one person who has a problem with a quick hire, but that's only because he "wasted" 20 minutes emailing clips.

It appears that Tim Buckley, the former Jazz beat writer for the Deseret News, has been scooped up for this position. Good hire.

Sounds like a good hire. Liked his music too. Liked his son Jeff's music better.

I'm sure most of you don't know what I'm talking about.

Good hire anyway.

It says a lot about the industry when a guy who has had NBA and NHL beats is hired on covering a crappy D-I school.
