Several members of the management team and some writers have been asked to take pay cuts up to 30 percent as Barnes seeks out money to hire additional reporters, multiple sources said. High on the list of new hires is a reporter to cover immigration...

Following high school athletes on Twitter

I cover a major pro beat and follow everyone I can on Twitter who's associated with the team, including players' girlfriends and wives. More than once, a significant other has Tweeted something about a roster move before it was announced. The point is, follow anyone associated with your beat.

    RIP Bud Adams

Wow, dies 72 hours after Bum Phillips, his former head coach. Adams became public enemy No. 1 in Houston when he fired Bum, and then holding the Astros hostage and adding seats to the Astrodome didn't help. Of course, within 10 years, he bolted with the Oilers, making him a villain in Houston.

Again, I covered the LLWS for a Top 10 circulation daily and got a few A1 stories and changed my career. If you would rather quit than cover it, go ahead.

    Little League World Series insights

I covered the LLWS in Williamsport twice, but not in nine years. I've covered Super Bowls, World Series, major college bowls games, All-Star Games, the Daytown 500 -- you name it -- but the LLWS was up there. What a great event. Both times I was fortunate to stay in Williamsport. The main drag...

So Keith drives everyone crazy, not just conservatives

I'm a conservative and Keith doesn't drive me crazy. I haven't seen him on TV in years, so he's not a part of my world.
