UPDATED info on Memorial service, fund for James Melroy (poster Tripp McNeely)

Here's some more information: Some of the designers came together and designed shirts to honor James, and his unique sense of humor. You can find them here. http://www.cafepress.com/jamesmelroy My favorite is the James Did It For The Parking. All the proceeds go to the family.

RIP (the poster known as) Tripp McNeely . . .

Re: RIP (the poster known as) Tripp McNeely . . . he passed away Wednesday There's a quick 4 minute video of the service now. James' memorial was on Monday, and it was truly touching to see all our former colleagues come out and pay their respects with some great, great stories.

Re: RIP (the poster known as) Tripp McNeely . . . he passed away Wednesday By the way, James' current favorite wrestler, CM Punk, won his first title in the WWE, after toiling down, jobbing to ham-and-eggers. Methinks he might be doing some booking from the heavens!

RIP (the poster known as) Tripp McNeely . . .

Re: RIP (the poster known as) Tripp McNeely . . . he passed away Wednesday I received this email from pro wrestler Rob Van ***, after I sent him a note about James. Wow! That is a shocker. It seems like I was just talking to him a few short weeks ago. I've been thinking about him and an...

Re: RIP (the poster known as) Tripp McNeely . . . he passed away Wednesday Here's another photo that I found on James' myspace page that made me laugh. I get a call from James, asking me if I was busy one Saturday. I told him I had to work, and he said that he was going to interview a WWE...

Re: RIP (the poster known as) Tripp McNeely . . . he passed away Wednesday "None of us could stand the son of a ***** when he was alive, so we told him to stick it." -Ray Liotta as Shoeless Joe Jackson in the movie Field of Dreams. Believe it or not, I was instructed to say that. By James...

    Today hurt ... a lot.

3 percent raise? Try a zero percent raise. That's what management offered to the staff at the P-T. 0%-1%-1% for three years. After the latest cutbacks, they have almost successfully killed the union. I wouldn't be surprised if they come back with the same offer now that 21 people are gone.

    Today hurt ... a lot.

There was a letter to the editor where a long-time reader just UNLOADED on Doug in a well-written, multi-faceted attack that would've blasted him back to the 1970s. It attacked his sports knowledge, his usage of the English language and even his grasp of reality in general. It wasn't...

    Today hurt ... a lot.

It seems the sports departments have been hit the hardest. Yet at my old paper: we have not one, but two old ****ers who put out two pages... of editorials. And they don't even do the layout, it's done by someone else. They spend their day, sipping coffee and discussing the "higher" points of...

The staff from the Press-Telegram was able to address City Council Tuesday, to announce all the cutbacks and how it is bad for the paper. JUmp down to new Buisness No. 20 at about 49 minutes. Great stuff. http://longbeach.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=12&clip_id=1937 The P-T lost our...

The number you heard was close, but that's between both the sports copy desk AND the news desk. The staff is waiting to find out tomorrow who has jobs. The Breeze probably saw what the P-T has gone through since 1998 and decided to get pro-active. The editors at the PT have been beaten down by...

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! If you say his name three times, he'll come and buy YOUR PAPER! Like in Hary Potter, using He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's name will help him identify those who oppose and resist him. Never underestimate the power of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's spending power with other's money.
