I used to work about an hour away from Sandusky and heard nothing but horror stories about this place. In today's journalism market, a job is a job. But, if you can, I agree with others on this board and stay away.

So does anybody know their hopefully timeline for this job? Have they already started interviewing candidates?

Does anyone know why the SJR is taking applications for so long? Most papers want to high someone ASAP, so I found that odd. Has the person this job is replacing not left yet?

Does anyone else think it's strange that one of the qualifications is "strong phone skills and willingness to pick up the phone and call anyone about anything" but at the end they specifically say no phone calls? I know most people put that in ads, but it just seemed funny to me.

The only question I have about this job is how does an 8,000-circulation paper have an assistant sports editor? I know of papers double and triple its size that don't have assistant sports editors.

Any news on this job? Have they called anyone yet?
