Turbeville is an excellent guy to work for. As far as the area being a dry country, it's as wet as you make it. Jonesboro is a rapidly growing city, and as mentioned early, covering Jonesboro High is probably the No. 2 beat at the paper behind Arkansas State. When JHS plays, you're the the man...
The context in which you said "boy" is more like you're referring to him as a friend/pupil-type individual. That makes sense and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Just never use it condescendingly, like, "What do you want, boy?" That can **** some people off.
Yeah, I got the call a couple weeks ago saying I got one of the internships. And I'll second the Illinois guy's question... any of you with experience internship? I'd really like to hear some info from your side.
PM, post on here, whatever. Thanks!
It seems the ABA is very loosely governed, from my experience covering a team that used to be in the area. The opportunity for even minor tension between the main office and the franchises to explode into something incredibly huge, damaging and pretty much downright hilarious is very much there...
Where I used to live, bowling is a sanctioned sport, but they never covered a lick of it. It's not because they don't know about it. They just don't spend time covering something that's not widely considered a sport, and thus, isn't of that much importance to the readers.
Those who were truly...
I don't know. I haven't heard whether they're notifying people who are eliminated or not. Several other internships I've applied for have done that. But not sure about this one.
As of the other day, they've narrowed it down to 40 and hope to have selections made by the end of next week.
I got an e-mail saying I was one of 60 finalists and had to send off a second round application of some sort, but I haven't heard back from that yet. Not sure when word is supposed to be passed down.
Yes, I've had a summer internship after every year of college along with freelancing work I've done for the paper near my university while in school. Also done stuff with the student paper.
I will graduate from college in May.
I've applied for a ton of internships already because those deadlines were in the early and late fall. Haven't started hearing back though. I think that typically happens between now and January, from what I've gathered.
But when you were in the same boat...
