Nabbed her 17th straight win last evening at Hollywood Park, carrying 129
pounds. Search YouTube with "Zenyatta + June 13, 2010" and dig it.
Laid it all out there. Sight to behold.

Love a horse that doesn't want to lose. Swinging wide coming onto the stretch it looked like she was thinking about spitting the bit, then she just dug in.

I have no idea how that horse made up that final half-length or so in the final 50 yards. Just fabulous.

Phew. From the headline of this topic, I was worried she'd been injured and was being put down.

I thought the Police had put out another album.

    Z's owner was co-founder of A&M Records.

And, yes, she was named after the Police album.

    Outstanding. Thanks for sharing that.

  9. I could care less about horse racing and still got goosebumps even though I knew the outcome. Really good stuff.

Wake me when she wins the Belmont by 31 lengths.
But, yeah, a very impressive horse.

Was at the Spa when Rachel won the Woodward, and I have a dog in this fight, since I believe the American throughbred has largely been bred over the past 175 years to run effectively on God's dirt, but damn, Z was giving significant weight to the top-drawer filly who ran second, and had to reach really, really deep to get this done. Credit where credit's due.
