Zack and Miri Make A Porno

Anyone else catch a matinee today? I haven't been this eager to see a movie, other than The Simpsons, in a long time.

It was worth the wait. Nobody mixes smut with sentiment quite like Kevin Smith. Some truly hilarious one-liners ("I just got frosted like a fucking cake!") and the inevitable conclusion is reached with a minimum of cheese. The big scene with Zack and Miri, too, is done really well with some great use of a Live song (hi Buckweaver!).

Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks are as great as ever and Craig Robinson is fuckin hilarious from start to finish. And it was cool to see Randal and Jay play someone else other than Randal and Jay.

I have no idea how Smith was able to get this to an R...there's dude nudity, a "we've got bush" moment, some pretty realistic looking humping and enough dirty jokes to give hondo's wife Terry Rakolta a heart attack. But hey, it's not a mainstream snuff film like Hostel, so he has to make some sacrifices, you know?

Well worth seeing. Also, do not leave when the credits begin rolling. What happens in the middle of the credits is worth the price of admission all by itself.

 

I was going to go see this before work, but did laundry instead. I'll go tomorrow. I'm pretty psyched.

 

Sweet, I definitely need to catch this.

Haven't seen it, but I don't think so. Read an AP story about the movie a couple weeks ago and she said she was ready and willing, but they rewrote the script to make the big scene more of a tender romantic moment.
We should go egg Kevin Smith's house for that.

Think I read the same thing, Batman. All accounts indicate Banks does NOT get naked. I repeat, does NOT.

Oh, and between this and "Changeling," I haven't been this geared up for a movie weekend in I don't know how long.
