Wait ... Lynn Dickey has/had a restaurant? How the hell did I not know about this?

If its still open, I'm going next time I'm in K.C.

If it's not, I'll stop by and genuflect.

Leave it to the Packers to draft a serial killer.

    1a (12) Choice to Washington
1b (23) * DB Rashard Anderson Jackson State
    2 (57) # S Deon Grant Tennessee

Deon Grant would have panned out had the Panthers made any effort to retain him. Other than that, pretty shabby stuff.

As a lifelong Skins fan, do I have to answer this question?

And whatever became of those two first-round picks that the Panthers sent for the "privilege" of signing one of the most entitled, overrated sacks of crap in team history? :)

LaVar and Samuels? Refresh my memory on that whole deal. It's been a while.

LaVar was and still is one of my favorite people on Earth. And Samuels will be in the Skins Ring of Honor one day, rightfully so. Two picks I'll never argue about; that's for sure. So yeah, I suppose I shouldn't throw out the blanket statement about the Skins drafts. That 2000 draft was pretty good despite the fact that those two picks were the only ones to even come close to panning out.

Sean Gilbert was a Redskin, told everyone that "God told me not to play for less than $4 million (per season)." Dom Capers, feeling he has all the other pieces, gives your team the two first-round picks to talk with the franchise player ... and signs the worthless "player" to a seven-year, $46.5 million deal.

Gilbert does next to nothing, and Panthers lose two first-round picks that could have actually produced a real NFL-caliber player. Capers loses his job a year later. George Seifert, the great motivator, can't get Gilbert to pull his wallet out of his pants long enough to do anything NFL-worthy during an NFL game. Panthers finally, mercifully, grimacingly release Gilbert.

    The End.

Ah, yes. Now, it's coming back to me. Man, that was dumb of the Panthers.

I said the same thing a dozen years ago. I worked with a colleague 15 years my senior who swore "You are wrong. You will eat your words."

I told him that if I ended up wrong, I'd write a column blasting myself for blasting that transaction. Never had to worry about that, eh?

Off the subject, but isn't Gilbert Darrelle Revis' uncle or something?

Yup. I remember hearing a lot about the Jets blaming Gilbert for the holdout last year. I'm not sure about that, but Gilbert was certainly an erratic, injury-prone pain in the ass going back to his days at Pitt.
