i once went 4-for-5 in an American Legion all-star game

was 4-for-4, came up the fifth time and had hardest-hit ball of the day, a shot right at the SS

we lost, but I didn't care. I got my hits

 

I ran two marathons within six weeks of each other.

Me knees haven't been the same since.

I've played golf with PGA Tour players Brian Gay, Stewart Cink, Brad Bryant and Jerry Kelly.

I had Cink beat ... then we got to the No. 3 tee (he had to shoot 67 from the tips to beat me, though).

And the late, great Payne Stewart, after watching me hit his driver, remarked, "Well, that was interesting."

 

I hit a three-run home run over the center field fence in Little League, as my team lost, 8-5. I hit .511 that season and .500 the previous year, but was snubbed for an All-Star spot both years.

I also was the first person to hit a home run over the fence at my old softball field in about 20 years, according to the umpire.

Pathetic, I know. But those moments keep me going.

 

We had one of these a month or so ago. Great thread that was.

I suppose we can relive some more memories, though, right?

Hitting that length-the-court shot in the University of Iowa field house, SWISH!, was one of the great achievements in my sporting career.

 

While playing in a girls vs. boys all-star game (it was a small town), I tagged out my bestest friend at home plate. I have no other athletic accomplishments, other than once being involved in all three outs in an inning while playing second base during a wiffle ball game.
