Ryan - great guy on top of it

TBSG was good. TSG not so much.

  3. All in all, Jim Litke of AP's sports columns have been consistently enjoyable and informative reads.

Just to toss out two names that haven't been mentioned:

Bud Geracie (San Jose). Not my all-time favorite, but a consistently entertaining read.

Stephen A. Smith (Philly). Not as a talker, mind you, but as a writer. He makes me think more often than most.

I like this thread. Living out west, I'm only familiar with the writers out here. I've been checking out some of the names listed and am finding really great stuff.

And to Orange Hat Bobcat, forgive me if you were being sarcastic and I just missed it. I think Simmons isn't getting love because all his columns are now are mailbags, pop culture references and Boston fanboy stuff. I used to like his writing but he seems a lot lazier than he was two years ago.

David Steele in Baltimore is an underrated talent.
    Gotta like Rob Smith's attitude.

    Ditto on Collier...funny and informative.

While he's a bit under the radar, I've always liked John Mehno at the Beaver County Times, etc.

The sarcasm font was definitely on.
